Hemphill County is experiencing a rise in food insecurity, according to Tanya Holloway, AgriLife Extension agent for Hemphill County. That trend aligns with a larger problem occurring across the Panhandle.

It has been months of quarantine for many of us, and the urge to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather is palpable. Summer during COVID-19 isn’t quite the same as years past, but that doesn’t mean summer 2020 has to be a bummer. Well, I have to say that this 4th of July is one for the history books, but not necessarily one I want to remember. Normally, the 4th of July is one of our busiest days, and we would have had well over a 150 visitors. This year, we had two visitors. Just two.

They live in a beautiful home near the beach in Southern California. Jerry has fully adjusted to a new routine that is nothing like his pre-pandemic life. Jan, however, has not.
