It has been months of quarantine for many of us, and the urge to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer weather is palpable. Summer during COVID-19 isn’t quite the same as years past, but that doesn’t mean summer 2020 has to be a bummer. There are still many family-friendly activities in Canadian to be enjoyed this season.

Well, I have to say that this 4th of July is one for the history books, but not necessarily one I want to remember. Normally, the 4th of July is one of our busiest days, and we would have had well over a 150 visitors. This year, we had two visitors. Just two.

“How much longer are we going to have to live like this?” That was a question posed to me recently by my childhood friend Jan. It was 7:30 pm in California when she called. Jan was still in her nightgown. She said she rarely gets dressed or goes out. Crisis fatigue has hit Jan hard. Jan and her husband, Jerry, are retired. They live in a beautiful home near the beach in Southern California. Jerry has fully adjusted to a new routine that is nothing like his pre-pandemic life. Jan, however, has not.
