Sounding the sirens

WOW, I CAN’T BELIEVE I am saying this, or admitting to it, but I agree with Malouf Abraham, M.D. (mostly deaf) on the sirens in the parade. Just kidding Malouf, but I do agree with you on the sirens.

I would like to take this time to thank our volunteers for taking time off from their families during the holiday to show off the amazing firetrucks we have in our county and surrounding area. Usually, when I see the trucks, it is a much less relaxed environment for me and the firefighters, so it is nice to see them on parade day. But I—like most of the parade goerswould prefer to see them and not hear them.

I really think this falls more on the shoulders of the parade marshal and organizers (also keeping in mind they are underpaid volunteers), than it does on the firemen.

So, long story short: fire departments keep bringing your cool trucks; parade marshal, remind them to leave the sirens in stealth mode. Orrrr..... let’s turn on the tornado sirens, firetruck, ambulance, and sheriff’s vehicle sirens for the duration of the parade. Wouldn’t that be festive!!

Thanks again to all of our volunteers!
