Bryan Bartlett seeks re-election to Canadian ISD Board of Trustees
Early voting begins on Tuesday, April 22
Bryan Bartlett, Candidate
Canadian ISD Board of Trustees
I’m Bryan Bartlett and I’m running for Canadian ISD school board. I graduated from Canadian High School in 2004 and went on to attend West Texas A&M until I moved back home to go to work. I married my wife, Lea, in 2012, and we have two children: Remi, who is in sixth grade, and Case, who is in fourth grade. I’m the vice president of Bartlett’s Lumber and Hardware.
Living and growing up in Canadian has been a tremendous blessing in my life, and I am eager to give back to the community in any way I can. I’ve been a member of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Department for eight years and served on the Canadian EDC for five years.
Canadian ISD’s motto is “Excellence: Every Child, Every Day,” and I believe I have embodied that motto as a school board trustee. During my time on the board, I have been committed to our students, staff, and the community. Our students consistently outperform state and regional averages in college, career, military readiness as well as in standardized test scores. They have excelled in all extracurricular activities like athletics, UIL academics, band, and One Act Play. The board has maintained a competitive pay scale for our staff that ranks in the top ten for new teachers and the top five for experienced ones. We also managed to preserve a healthy fund balance during a time of high inflation and lack of support from the state.
Three challenges that Canadian ISD is facing are declining enrollment, decreasing property values, and state legislation. These challenges are all unique in their own way, challenges that will cause us to have to make difficult choices. But I believe that my business and board experience, along with my dedication to this community, will help us face these challenges in the years ahead.
I would also like to express my gratitude. I believe that community support is crucial to our success. Without it, the board wouldn’t be able to dedicate the resources necessary to have such exceptional staff or students. I’m running for school board to give back to the community that has been such a blessing in my life. I have been a member of the board since 2022, and with your support, I look forward to serving another term.
